Our Impact
Boulder’s only full-service aggregate recycling center—
cutting emissions, not corners.
At Boulder Recycled Aggregate, we’re transforming how Boulder County handles construction waste.
By reclaiming materials, including dirt, cobble, and asphalt, that would otherwise end up in landfills, we help reduce carbon emissions, support circular building practices, and move our community toward a cleaner, more sustainable future.

What Makes Boulder Recycled Aggregate Different?
Most facilities only recycle concrete and asphalt. We go further.
We recycle fill dirt, cobble, asphalt, and topsoil—materials typically rejected by other recyclers.
We carefully screen debris, remove contaminants, and reuse what we can.
We launched a new product line from recovered dirt called “dirty rock”—a consistent-size aggregate made from harvested rock. No one else in Boulder County does this.
This means less waste, fewer emissions, and more usable material for our local community.
How Do We Reduce Emissions?
Transportation is one of Boulder County’s largest sources of greenhouse gas emissions, accounting for nearly 30% of the total. Our site is the only aggregate recycling facility within 4 miles of central Boulder. That matters.
Compared to trucking material to Commerce City or Fort Collins:
Using our location emits up to 80% less CO2
Saves up to 246 pounds of emissions per round-trip
Is equivalent to removing 265 SUVs from the road annually.
We use Tier 4-compliant equipment, meeting the EPA’s cleanest standards.

Our Work Support Boulder’s Climate Goals
We align directly with:
Boulder County’s Climate Action Plan, which calls for a 90% reduction in emissions by 2050
The City of Boulder’s Circular Boulder Vision, which prioritizes reuse over landfill waste
By keeping materials local and reusable, we:
Reduce landfill-bound waste
Support low-carbon construction
Contribute to Boulder’s net-zero goals
Fast Facts: Our Local Environmental Impact
130,000+ tons
of recycled material used in Boulder-area projects (CU Boulder, NOAA, Boulder Canyon, and more)
106-265 SUVs
Equivalent to removing 106–265 SUVs from the road annually
100–200 metric tons
of CO2 emissions reduced each year
Approx. $40,000/year
in sales tax revenue returned to Boulder County
Water Conservation
Site operations use water recycling methods to reduce freshwater consumption.
Every truckload of concrete, cobble, or dirt we reclaim keeps materials in circulation and out of landfills. It also means fewer trucks on the road, less diesel burned, and more sustainable infrastructure across Boulder County.
We’re not just a recycling center—we’re part of the solution.
